Asphalt Paving Across Nanaimo's Neighbourhoods
Nanaimo Paving lays new asphalt, resurfaces worn driveways and patches broken ones right across the city, from the Old City to North Nanaimo and Departure Bay. Inside the municipal boundary a driveway access permit costs $25 plus bonding, and we sort that out with you before we start.
New hot-mix asphalt runs $5.00 to $9.50 a square foot here, and a 400 to 600 square foot driveway lands between $2,000 and $5,700.
What can we do to your driveway?
We lay new asphalt driveways where there is nothing but dirt or a slab that has to come out. Where the surface underneath is still sound we resurface it instead, which is faster and cheaper. We also repair potholes and broken edges, and we seal and crack-fill a driveway that is sound but drying out.
Do you need a permit for your driveway?
Inside the city, yes. It is $25, plus bonding, with the bonding amount fixed when you apply, and the City's Development Engineering is who deals with it. You file a Permit Application, and an Appointment of Agent form as well if you are not the registered owner. We fill it in with you. What changes the price on your lot?
The area we are paving sets the bulk of it. After that it is the ground: prep and base work is $1.50 to $3.50 a square foot on its own, and a lot that has never carried a proper base needs more of it. Access matters too, because a narrow lane or a tight turn changes how we get the trucks in. We look at all of it on site and put one price in writing.
